Chewacla
Jordan Sanderson

Too low to spill
over the dam, the lake
still breeds mosquitoes.

We sit below the dam
where tepid overflow
used to tumble down
and plunge into the hard
grammar of rock.

Mosquitoes buzz
over beauty, or at least
the blood that rushes to it.
