Minimum Wage
Ray McManus

I want to hold money
in my hand, fold it over
and put it in my pocket.
I want to hold money
in my hand and put it in
the dresser drawer
and forget about it.
I want to hold money
in my hand and walk
into a department store
and say this is for you,
and this for you,
and this is for you.

I want to smell money
in my hand. I want
the smell money leaves
on my hand, your hands.

I want to smell the blush
on your face when I take
what's folded in my pocket
and lay it out on the bed
before you.

I don't care how much it costs.
